What is Invisalign and how does it work?
Invisalign straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth. Not everyone who needs orthodontic treatment is the right candidate for Invisalign treatment!
At Chilliwack Family Dentistry, we use advanced 3-D computer imaging technology with the Itero scanner (impression – free) to record the existing malocclusion and project the necessary tooth movements. Invisalign uses these records to create a series of clear, custom-made aligners that gradually move your teeth to an ideal position. You wear each set of aligner for about two weeks, moving to the next set, and visit your orthodontist for regular check-ups until your teeth are straight.
Your orthodontist will carefully observe your improvement and will determine if any change or modification is needed during or after the course of treatment.

Invisalign Teen has all the features of Invisalign Full, plus: Compliance indicators are extra features that have been added to Invisalign Teen aligners to track the patient’s approximate wear time and help provide reassurance for parents that the teen is being compliant and treatment is on course.
Invisalign For Children
Invisalign First clear aligner treatment is a type of Phase One treatment in growing children. It aligns the teeth while expanding the arches and making room for existing teeth and incoming permanent teeth.
Phase One treatment with Invisalign First may be used to:

The Invisalign Treatment Process
Your First Consultation
At your initial consultation, we will discuss your orthodontic needs and evaluate whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.
Your Custom Treatment Plan
We will use a scanner such as the iTero® digital scanning system to create fast, precise 3D digital images of your teeth. Then we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. You’ll even get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile.
Your Invisalign Clear Aligners
Your custom-made aligners will be made of Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material. They’re virtually invisible, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them during your teeth straightening.
Wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results, and take them out only to eat, brush, and floss.
Your Progress
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. We may recommend that you begin wearing a new set of aligners every week and schedule checkups every six weeks or so.
Taking Care of Your New Smile
When your treatment is complete, ask us about a Vivera® retainer. Vivera retainers are custom-made using the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign clear aligners.
